American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
In AIAA, we believe students should have the opportunity to succeed within aerospace. We push our technical and interpersonal capabilities to prove our passions and to grow ourselves in preparation for success in both academia and industry. We do this by providing members with hands-on project experience, professional development opportunities, and community outreach.
Currently, we offer four distinct projects:
- Design, Build, Fly: A competition-oriented project that focuses on designing and building a plane to meet varying mission requirements each year. We compete against some of the top universities from around the world
- Rockets Academy: Both competition and certification-oriented, this project is dedicated to advancing our member’s knowledge of rocketry systems and reaching new heights.
- First Person View (FPV) Drones: A research based team providing opportunities for students interested in electronics, control systems, and autonomous flight tailored to integrating all Engineering disciplines
- Project Turbine: A technical development-oriented project aimed at advancing our skills in manufacturing, system integration, and Computer Aided Design. It is similarly structured to aerospace companies, resulting in unparalleled, industry-relevant experience
